These three are my favorite sprouts…this is Easter morning before we went into Sunday school. What a beautiful day it was.
Easter was fun and relaxing. We didn't do much…Scott and I both vowed that we were taking the "day off" from working in the yard/garden. Too many late nights working this past week has left us both dragging! Between that and my Poison Ivy…I haven't slept much. I thought is was funny that coincidentally I had a nap yesterday and Scott took off fishing. I think we both deserved it!
The birds are tuned up and tweeting their spring songs this afternoon. Cash is resisting the afternoon nap and after a half a day of working in my flower beds again I'm sitting down to relax before I go pick up the girls. Whew! Here's what I accomplished today…still a bit of a mess in the pic.
Sara says if we don't quit raking…we'll NEVER get the grass to grow! She might be right! LOL! These big old trees suck up all the moisture in the back anyway and there's not much there to begin with. This morning Cash and I planted ranunculus (in pots for now), liatris (focal point), and red salvia. He's quite the gardener. Thanks to a friend's suggestion, I've divided several of my established plants (Day Lillies and grasses) to add to my bed and save a few bucks! I always wanted a shady canopy of trees…and I got em…but let me tell you, deciding what to plant can be more difficult, I think. Still have much to do to this bed. It's going to keep me busy this summer but we sure do enjoy this part of the back yard…so it will be worth it. I have ferns and hosta on the other side of the tree…they enjoy full shade all summer.
I have established Peonies in another bed along the fence. Ooohhh…I just love them. I also have planted some lettuces along there as well as Holly Hocks and Zinnias. I planted seeds…let's hope they make? I haven't had a whole lot of luck with seeds in the past. So far so good…I have little sprouts that Cash and I check daily.
I better go for now…laundry is calling 🙂
