Goodness…I got inspired last night to create some new graphics and do some "house cleaning" here on my blog…and I am just now finishing. It feels nice to have a fresh look for summer!
Speaking of summer…IT'S OFFICIAL!!! The girls' last day of school was today! We rolled into school about noon (no one goes on the last day) to deliver teacher Thank You's, say goodbyes and pick up report cards. We celebrated ALL A's with a pizza lunch!
I think we've all got some kind of plans for the summer…I know that I have enjoyed the outdoors more in the last couple of months than I have in the last three years. Sad but true. Watching my little seedlings grow, planting, RE-landscaping…and watering ;) But most of all…sitting back and enjoying.
Last week Miss Abby had a birthday…
She loves playing American Girl dolls…so she got a few goodies for her doll.
Do you love Cash's outfit in the above picture…yep, he dressed himself :) Bday was on a Tuesday night so we opened a few gifts before heading out to birthday dinner at an Italian eatery. Yes, I changed the boy. Friend party coming later.
Can you tell this was her FAVORITE gift…a purple pocketknife from Daddy. We'll put that up for now 😉
So I'm in summer mode…
really, very different than my previous summer modes– which usually involved several trips (teaching or something or other).
This year I really hope to relax, enjoy the kids and keep a low profile. We have NO softball, kids activities or places to be…besides the back yard. The biggest thing on my to do list is prepping for my IU class in September. Other than that…I'm taking some time off. A long vacation, methinks to make up for not having one for the last 5 years. It will be a staycation, of course…but that's just fine with me.
I do hope to maintain some sort of structure with the kids…Cash goes nuts when the girlies are around. He has a BALL with them…and of course, they are bad about spoiling him! Gotta watch that. So tomorrow, we'll spend some time planning menus, planning local outings and seeing what local fun stuff is going on in the Fort Smith Entertainment book.
- Check out this great printable menu set from Money Saving Mom as well as this guide to FREE SUMMER FUN!
- Fort Smith Moms has lots of local stuff/activities listed (for those of you that are local peeps)
- We'll be going to the Kids Summer Film Fest at Van Buren's Malco, I'm sure! Check your local theater for kid frspecials!
It's gonna be a great summer!
