I actually took the lazy way out and painted over the existing wall paper. Turned out GREAT except for two ugly seams that show. I love it so much that those seams don't bother me too much.
Here's the layout of the office…my design plan for the 9 x 11 space.
It's evolved as I've worked on it…I decided a chair was really a space waster and I needed a file cabinet much worse– which would also work as a decorative element.
table—new from outlet $175 It's actually a dinette table with a leaf! So it extends larger than this. I might use it for family gatherings in our living area to add some table space.
frames from HL- $20 ea (on 1/2 price)
- Did new sheers and curtain rod– about $30 for all
- Had the lamp…an old favorite.
$12 clearance (was broken and I fixed it)
- Little black file cabinet $35 at an outlet—missing
a handle, but I’ll put new pulls on it.
Like that pic on the desk of the new "skinny" me that Sara drew 🙂 and me as a princess by Abby. They have had so much fun in here already!
into the office from door way…two lamps $13 each (Wal Mart)—still have to make
the “cool fabric art” piece (I'm thinking some b&w toile or a chic bold black and white floral print) and paint the legs/bottom of my old desk
Had the shelf ($15 from a friend a couple years ago)
- That darn Martha Stewart box (third shelf down) cost
more than the shelf!!! I have to 40%
coupon my way to two more!! 🙂
Need to finish adding some pieces and beautifying this shelf…need another mag holder
(shelf 2—$4 at WM, I’ll decorate the front of these with some chic patterned
paper), adding photos to the top…and a large basket/box to the bottom.
Here's how I planned it out…
So you see…it is coming together!
It's less than $400 all totaled…I exceeded my original budget a bit because I spent a little more on the table. But the fact that is is a multi-purpose piece helped me justify that.
So when it is all done — I will share more pics though most of you know how I work, right 😉 LOL!
